  1. Athens has a beautiful modern metro system that will take you to almost anywhere you need to go in the city from the airport, also the buses are great and very frequent as well and are right out side the door from the airport

  2. It might cost 42€ if you take the taxi, but the bus or the metro leaves directly from the airport and will only cost you about €6 max each way

  3. I wouldn't use a taxi if I were you. Too expensive. There is a metro station just outside the airport, which takes you directly to the city center. It's cheap and quick too. If you stay in Athens use the metro to go anywhere you like. There are stations almost everywhere.

  4. A cab should be more like 35 euros, not 42, but anyway.....take the bus.  It's cheaper and air conditioned.

  5. Metro or bus.

If you are not coming for a few months the bus may be the only option as that part of the metro will be closing in October for a while.

  6. you're always taking a risk when you hail a taxi in any city in the world.  it could be cheaper depending on the shadyness of the taxi driver.  also, it will be difficult to hail a taxi when they see you w/luggage.  just look for taxis with the lighted sign on the lower left hand side of the dashboard, they have to stop.   look into taking the metro, but only if you don't have alot of luggage.
