I have a landline phone number that can be ported anywhere. What is the cheapest way I can keep this phone number? I don't care if its just a voicemail service, forwarding, or mobile device. I just want to keep this number cheap. Thanks!

  1. phone companies aren't allowed to charge you for keeping your number if you are switching from one company to another.

  2. I know AT&T offers basic phone service at $8 a month.  Keep in mind, that means you pay out the wazoo for minutes.

Check out other providers services to see what they offer.  You might look into whoever services your area, be it AT&T, Verizon, SBC, or some other company, in which case you might need to contact your landowners/hoa nearby.  There should be some sort of forwarding service for less than $15 a month.

P.S. Maybe your current provider offers one??

  3. yes!!

you have the right to port your number!! and that includes cell-phones too!

VoIP don't have to port your number, but most of the time their will to it!!
