I've just finished living in Auckland, New Zealand for 6 months and met the most amazing girl! I would like for her to come and live with me in Washington, DC while I finish university and it would be ideal for her to be able to work while she is here. It seems the J-1 Work/Travel visa is the thing to get, but my question concerns the costs/restrictions of obtaining a "sponsor." She doesn't need anyone organize a place to live or to work, she simply needs to be able to work legally if the opportunity arises. Does anybody specialize in no-frills J-1 visas or is there another way to go about this?

  1. I think you'd be better asking this in the Politics & Government> Immigration section. There are a lot of very knowledgeable experts on American immigration in there who will probably be able to help.
