I am in the UK and have a 3G phone on T-Mobile which I use for checking email. I will be in France for two weeks and the roaming charges are about £1.50 per MB (which is crazy). What would be the cheapest way for me to get 3G in France - is it easy to get another sim?

  1. Both ORange and SFR have introduced a 'sort of' pay as you go 3G. They are not particularly cheap - about 10 euros a day for 65 MB - but a lot cheaper than roaming charges for your UK operator. Also, the conditions are a bit weird (and keep changing), like on one of them (I forget which) you have to buy the sim card and then sign up with a credit card. They then take the 10 euros payment for each day you actually use.

A far better solution (as far as I am concerned) for checking emails when travelling is something like the very lightweight eee-pc. There is no shortage of free wi-fi in cafes.

  2. well unfortunitly in france u can't have a sim card like in england.u need to pay before 20 pounds just to have the sim card.after it s the same thing in englang,u need to credit your card. i think it s best cheapest way. france suck about mobile phone.it's really expansive here, more than england
