My wife and I will be flying to amsterdam this thursday, and we have to get to Poland. We will have big suitcases. Is there any cheap train or bus? Any ideas? (just don't say auto-stop hitchhike) thanks

  1. Flying last minute and with bags tends to rack up the price, and so all those attractive fares which the low cost airlines publish are basically not possible in this situation

You can take the train, although again, international last minute fares tend to be pricey (compared with booking in advance).  However it is much more comfortable than by coach though.  Not all fares are available on the internet but for what is available it would take 15-17.5 hours and cost "from" €127 http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.e...

If you are not bothered by a long-ride then your cheapest option would be by Eurolines

A one-way ticket to Poland (Warsaw in this case although there are different cities from which you can choose) would cost €88 per person (cheaper fares available for students and young persons) and takes 19.5 hours http://www.eurolines.nl (English option top right)

  2. Ok heres what you do... Don't go to Poland stay in Amsterdam...why you ask? LEGAL WEED...I rest my case

  3. In Belgium there are many mini tour companies driving to Poland for the Polish immigrants... they leave Rue du Progress each Saturday morning apparently (close to the train station Bruxelles Nord).

But if you don't speak Polish then I would indeed suggest one of the regular bus lines (like eurolines,...)

  4. I would never suggest hitch hiking as it's dangerous.  I was just going to suggest walking...slow but very cheap. ;-)

  5. I would probably just take the train, it will be your quickest and most direct root
