  1. hitchit....

  2. Flying is by far the cheapest way, there is no direct train, it's a very long way, and flights are not that expensive.

  3. Jetstar does not fly direct Brisbane to Perth. Tiger doesn't fly from Brisbane nearest airport is the Gold Coast. Virgin Blue (virginblue.com.au) does fly direct but also has some flights via Sydney and Melbourne while still allowing you to book as Brisbane origin and Perth Destination. Some flights are as low as AU$219 one way all taxes, fees etc. included. Fares can be as high as AU$989 one way so be flexible on dates and book well in advance.  To get Jetstar fares you would have to book multiple flight segments which can cause some problems if there are delays. (jetstar.com.au)

You can also buy bus(coach) tickets (greyhound.com.au) either to go in one hit from Brisbane to Perth but you would have to look at segments eg Brisbane to Sydney or Melbourne and then on to Perth.  You can also buy tickets which allow you to travel on any Grehound and or Mccafferty coach over a selected period of time.  I doubt if bus fares other than time based ones would be cheaper than cheapest available airfares. It is a long long long way and food costs and possible accommodation costs would make it much dearer.  The only saving is you can be dropped in city centre and not have to pay cost of getting to and from airport.

  4. It's not a quick trip so Id suggest flying.

  5. flying.  It's a looooong way and the onroad costs would add up very quickly.

  6. If you like the idea of sleeping while sitting up for 4 days try the train...otherwise FLY ;)
