What is the cheapest way to stay in mobile contact between England and Australia?

I know about skype and voip. I want mobile contact. Has anyone used the skype mobile ?

Yes, a friend was visiting here from England recently and he brought his Skype mobile with him.

He called his family back in England regularly.

As long as her was near a 3g tower he had no trouble at all.

(And they seem to be everywhere)

I have Skyped  him from my computer and he picks up with his mobile no matter where he is. The connection is always good.

The Skype phones offer free calls and SMS between Skype users, and normal 3 rates for other calls.

While here he purchased me a phone from d**k Smiths ($69) but I don't use it, I prefer the headset which leaves my hands free to surf the net while talking to friends overseas.
