  1. it cost around £20 an hour... if possible i would suggest.. taking 1 lesson a week then getting a family member or friend to take you out in there car... if not then just do it slowly.. what ever you can afford

  2. Usually by block booking lessons, say ten at a time, they will give you a small discount. Family is fine for extra lessons but they will have to be very careful not to teach you their you bad habits.

  3. You need to find a friend or relation who will take you out in their car. Remember: Practice makes perfect, and lots of practice makes for greater perfection. I took professional lessons in conjunction with lots of practice in my father's car, and passed first time. Mind you, it was over 20 years ago when the test was possibly easier.

  4. I used the AA - you can buy blocks of lessons direct from their website - for that money you get a FULLY qualified driving instructor, their car (usually a Ford Focus 1.6) and even a year of road-side assistance too. If you want to buy individual hours on top of the block (the block has 12 hours worth of lessons in) then the option is there.

I passed first time with 15 hours worth of lessons (not 15 individual lessons - just 15 HOURS).

    They were really good

  5. drive with your parnets first so you will save money from not failing...also it will take a couple weeks at least for driver ed. im sorry but i dont no how much it would cost you.

  6. If you go to the link below, there's loads of free information about how to find a good instructor etc..

There is no cheap way of learning to drive, but you can save money by making sure you have a good instructor and get plenty of private practice. With lots of practice, you are more likely to pass first time - that way you will definitely save loads.

    Good luck :-)

  7. Ask your dad or grandad to take you out on L plates, lessons are about £25 . small private firms I find are cheaper, but ask large firms like AA etc they may do deals, so many lessons and test for x amount. with regards to how many lessons you will need Well it will come down to your confidence behind the wheel and how well you listen and pick things up

  8. Hello Hi, unfortuantly there is not much of a cheap way to take driving lessons, I have three suggestions. The more experianced driver you are the less driving lessons you will have to take!!

1, Depending on where you live, there is a place in Rainham, East London, called the car drome, whereby if any members of your family drive, they can take you up their and teach you the basics and advanced driving when you are ready! dont worry its all legitamate, you dont need any type of insurance or even a provisional as it is private land, but there has to be a person who has driven for three or more years with you!!

if you dont live in East london there maybe similer places around you.

    2. book a crash course, where you will be paying out 6-700 pounds and will learn to drive in around a week, the only problem is that the pass rates are not really hi.

    3. take weekly driving lesson during the day, they are slightly more cheaper then peak times and some lessons can start from around 17 pounds per hour (maybe cheaper or more) it is recommended that learners take 40 or more hours on the road before applying for a test.

I think the car drome maybe your best option, you  only pay 12 pounds and can drive around the whole day (around 12 hours) learn you basic driving and manovers, then take around 12- 15 lessons to learn your road sence, then apply for your test.

well my last suggetion is that if there is anyone in your house hold who has driven over three years and is over 21, and if they have a small engine car ie a 1.1 or 1.2  and if they have a generally small car, on a provisional licence you could insure your self as learner to drive on the roads in their vehicle only if that person is with you all the time you drive and that you dont drive on the motorway (as it is illegal) you could learn that way and then take around 5 driving lessons and book your test, but this option may also be expensive due to your age the insurance will be quite high, but it also depends greatly on the car.

hope this helps, sorry about the long responce, take care!!! good luck, and dont worry you will get there!!!

  9. Your Dad, mates etc.  Read the Highway Code first. There is no requirement for you to go to a Driving School. many people still get one of the above to teach them and then take a 1 hour lesson with an instructer and ask him to pick faults out.

  10. The amount of lessons varies from person to person - some take to it so quickly and easily, others take a little longer. factor in the cost of your Provisional License, lessons, theory test, practical test and if you pass, the full license and you are looking at a lot of money.

One option is to drive a family members car and have them tutor you.  Keep in mind that this is the fast track to arguements (!)  and often, if this person has bad driving habits they'll pass them on to you.

This'll sound harsh but if you don't have much spare cash at the moment, save it.  Unless your financial situation changes if you pass your test how will you afford to purchase a car?
