What is the cheapest way to travel to Belize?

hitchhiking and public buses, starting from the Mexican side of the Mexico-US border and heading south.  

It could be quite the adventure.

Well, you did not say where you were traveling from? Which country are you traveling from? I assume perhaps you are traveling perhaps from the USA?

If that is the case, then taking public transportation through Mexico down to the Belize/Mexico border is the cheapest, but perhaps too adventurous for most people.

Another cheap way and faster is to fly into Cancun, Mexico and take a public express bus to the border, and cross over into Belize. That should be fairly cheap from most parts north of Mexico, including USA and Canada.

If you are traveling from Europe or Latin America, then that's another story.
