  1. $42.67

  2. Check craigslist.com for your city. If you want something for a lake, it will cost less than if you want something for salt water.

Also, depending upon what you want to do with it, you can get a sailboat with a cabin and very small motor.

Just remember that the less you spend (and older the boat is) the more time and money you will likely have to spend repairing it.

  3. Look at a drascombe, used.

  4. You dont say where you are, but a decent 15' boat would cost  less than £3,000 with a lot of extra's

this time of the year they are cheap but dont forget your mooring fees

  5. 25,000

  6. Depends on useage.

Is it for onshore, river / canal or lake purposes ?

Are we talking about something with sleeping berths, or just a day-boat ?

I shall envisage a GRP hull, about 15-20 ft, with a 50hp outboard, and small cabin with seating.

In the UK you would be looking at circa £2000 - £4000, for a decent second hand one.

A smaller tub with a donkey engine and basic cabin could come in at £1000-£2000

At £10000 - £20000 you will have a fine vessel with a loo, galley, inboard engine, etc.

So the choice really depends on budget.

Check out the adverts in boatie magazines to get a comparison.

My ancient narrowboat, 50ft, six berth job with loo, galley, dining area, and an old BMC truck engine for propulsion, is probably only worth about £8000.

Top of the range 60-70 ft narrowboats, built new to your own

design, can easily come to £50000 +

So it is horses for courses, I suspect from your question that your requirement will fall into the £1500 - £2500 bracket for a decent one.

You could buy a half-finished job and do it up, if you enjoy a bit of DIY, for hull and engine, in the £1000 area.

    All the best with it,

    Bob the Boat
