What is the check called that i get from the gov't... death benifits or something???

when i turn 18 and get out of high school, I'm getting a check... I'm not sure what its called, nor if there is a site that ya can check how much you get... does anyone know what its called, or if there is a site that says how much? please and thank you for answering...

  1. What country are you in? If it's the US, I have no idea what you mean. If a parent passed away while you are under age, then the other parent would get a Social Security check in their name for you care until you graduate or turn 18. That's the only thing I can think of, but you wouldn't receive that money. If someone passed away and left you something, the government wouldn't be giving you that, the attorney would. Can you please elaborate?


  2. Not sure what you're asking about.  

    If one of your parents has died your other parent or legal guardian may be collecting Social Security Death Benefit on your behalf.  Those payments stop at age 17 unless you are still in High School in which case they stop at age 18 automatically.  The money is paid to your guardian on your behalf since you are a minor.  Since the payments stop when you reach the age of majority it will never be paid directly to you.

    If it's not Social Security that you're asking about then the only other thing that comes to mind is an inheritance or trust payout.  Your parent or legal guardian would have that information; there's no website where you can "look it up."
