What is the chemical equation for the reaction between baking soda and vinegar?

NaHCO3 + CH2OOH --> ?

I don't know what type of reaction is this and what product will it form.

  1. It is an acid base reaction.  In water the Na+ is irrelevant as it is a specator ion but your products should be fairly obvious considering all you have are Hydrogens, Carbons, and Oxygens.

    eh. whatever. its h2o and co2 and Na+ but you can balance the equation yourself.


  2. NaHCO3 + CH3COOH --> CH3COONa + H2CO3

    *  The H2CO3 is carbonic acid which very quickly breaks down into carbon dioxide (CO2) and water (H2O).
