  1. I think it's also called as MADRAS, which is derived from "Madraspatnam".

And due to political issue, in late August 1996, the ruling party of Tamil Nadu, where the city is located, announced that Madras would be renamed Chennai.

And, how is it named in China. Well, I think it would be the same. Just somehow, the pronounciation of the name by Chinese tongue might be diferent.

  2. it would be Chennai..

  3. I think all proper names are the same anywhere in the world. So chennai will be chennai in any language. But if you are looking for a chinese translation of the world chennai, you can do it here:

  4. Chennai was formerly known as Madras, and in the ancient times i.e. during 1757 to 1857 it was known as Chenna Patinam. Regarding the chinese name , as far as my knowledge goes, in Chinese also the name will be the same.

  5. ur question is not clear tho' ..since its in a dining out section.. I asume ur looking for a chinese eat out... best in chennai would be wang's kitchen..in nugambakkam or adayar..

or china town in nugambakam again..
