....for under $100? I wanna do something really special for my girlfriend's birthday, and I want her to remember it forever. I'm already taking her for a nice ride in a SUV limo (she's never ridden in a limo period before), and I'm spending a lot on her present, but I'm just stumped about where to take her. This question isn't really just specific to people in Dallas, TX, but to all people in a big city. I'm sure if they have a very nice restaurant where you live, they probably have something close to it here. Anyway, please don't say McDonald's. If you plan on being sarcastic, GROW UP!

  1. OMG. You have to go to Dralions. My husband and I went there for our 2nd anniversary and have gone back every year since. I love it. The ambiance is awesome and the restaurant focuses on Japanese and Indo-Chinese cuisine from China and Vietnam. The interior is covered with red velvet, giving it a majestic and romantic feel. You are sure to get the freshest sushi in all of Dallas, because fresh fish is flown in everyday from different parts of Japan. In addition, the restaurant's Drae Lounge is happening till late.

    But heres some more:

    Anatars at Reunion Tower.

    DragonFly inside hotel ZaZa.

    Perrys.

    Steele.

    Seventeen Seventeen.

    The Grape.

    Adelmo's Ristorante for Italian.

If you want to drive into Las Colinas there is the canal its off O'Connor near the Mustangs, you can see the canal and there are also some little resturants, and a couple of bars, and maybe you can get a nice glass of wine.

Lee Harvey's is romantic and cheaper. if you want a brandy hot chocolate and s'mores around a campfire romantic , that's your place.

    HAVE FUN!!!

  2. The Grape - It's very cool, very good, in a cool part of town - you are in walking distance of some nice bars for after dinner, and it's in your price range.

  3. Your best bet is to go onto Guide Live (www.guidelive.com)  You can click on "restaurants" and then search by neighborhood, rating, and price.  You can then click on the web links directly to the restaurants and look at the menus to see if they fit what you're looking for.

But here are a few of my suggestions for nice, classy, memorable places that two can go to for under $100.  Most of these places should have websites so go online and check out the menus.  And definitely make reservations & when you do, tell them it's your girlfriend's birthday and that you'd like something special for dessert.  Most places will bring out something lovely.

Dragonfly at the Hotel ZaZa in Uptown (near the Crescent)  Very trendy menu and atmosphere.  A very "see and be seen" kind of place if you're into that sort of thing.

Central 214 at the Hotel Palomar at Mockingbird and Central.  Very modern decor and contemporary American cuisine.  After dinner, you can sit in their trendy lobby bar for an after-dinner cocktail.

Cafe Istanbul in Inwood Village (it's a very cozy Turkish/Mediterranean restaurant.  this will sound cheezy, but on Fridays they have an amazing belly-dancer.  it's not tacky, it's really interesting and the food is great)

Patrizio in Highland Park Village.  Cozy, pretty, but not-too-expensive Italian place.

Rise No.1  in Inwood Village.  It's a little French bistro that specializes in souffles.  It's romantic and not the same ol' thing.  Every girl likes a souffle!  And there are heartier options for you if souffles aren't your thing.

St. Martin's Wine Bistro on Greenville Avenue.  It's another type of French Bistro, but their prices aren't outrageous and the food is consistently very good.

So, there are some ideas...  I hope you and your girlfriend have a lovely night to remember!

  4. "Three Forks" is the best restaurant in Dallas. Call ahead and make reservations, and let them know about your occasion. They usually try to make it special for the Birthday Person.

I remember the owner coming out and chatting with my wife and presenting her with a red velvet bag full of coins on her birthday. She was thrilled. I don't know if they still do that, but the rest of the dinner experience is something we still talk about.

  5. A Brazilian Steakhouse is terrific with fantastic service.  Fogo de Chow or Texas de Brazil in Addison will be just over $100 or go to Mastergrill in Firewheel Mall in Garland and you will have enough for a bottle of wine as well.

As someone else stated St. Martins is great.
