  1. Why not install the carpet first, that will simplify matters.


  2. 1/4" minimum - 1/2" maximum

  3. Bub is right..... there is no need to leave the baseboard "up". Carpet doesn't go under the baseboard, it gets tucked in between the tack strip and the base board. Good Luck

  4. Why leave the baseboard up any?  Put it against the floor and then have the carpet installed.
