  1. Gatwick is definitely the closest and direct trains run into Brighton.

I think Princess Consuela was thinking of New Brighton which is a good 200 miles away and its nearest airport is actually Liverpool.

  2. Gatwick is the closest main airport, 25 miles away, there is Brighton International Airport (Shoreham) but that is for very light aircraft and smaller airliners (non jet) and is about 10 miles along the coast.  Other methods of getting to Brighton.

Rail, Direct Services from London Bridge, London Victoria, Eastbourne, Hastings, Portsmouth and Southampton by Southern Rail.  First Capital Connect services direct from Bedford, Luton, St Pancaras and through London via London Bridge.

Road.  From London Area, the M25 to M23 which converts to the A23 just after Crawley (approx halfway to Brighton) and this goes all the way into the heart of Brighton and ends up at Palace Pier on the sea front. From East / West the A27 runs all the way along the Sussex / Hampshire coast from Southampton to roughly Hastings and skirts the outside of Brighton with good links into the City area. Other possible smaller country routes from the Lewes, Haywards Heath, Horsham and Shoreham area will draw you into Brighton but are obviously more restricted.

Busses.  National Express do run a limited coach service to Brighton form some of the Main Cities, best to check on the appropriate web site.  Local Busses run out as far as Worthing, Lewes, Eastbourne and country busses run up as far as Gatwick, Horsham and through the local villages in the heart of Sussex.

    Hope this helps

  3. The closest airport is Gatwick - you can get a train from Gatwick to Brighton I think (or you used to be able to anyway).  Or you can get a train from London, or other South Coast destinations (i.e. Portsmouth).

Depends where you are coming from though...

  4. You don't say where you're coming from or whether you're in England, so that makes it very difficult to answer. I presume you're overseas, as you're asking about airports.

Brighton is only a short train ride from East Croydon, which is a short train ride from Gatwick Airport. The trains are frequent during the day.

  5. Closest airport is Shoreham, but it's unlikely that you will find a flight from there to wherever you want to go to.  In which case, Gatwick is the best.  You can get a train there from Brighton.

  6. Gatwick Airport. There are frequent trains linking the airport with Brighton. Minimum 4 per hour off peak, journey takes roughly 30 mins depending on number of stops. Please note these trains are operated by 'First Capital Connect' or 'Southern' - NOT Gatwick Express (these trains go to London only).

  7. gatwick is the closest train station to brighton

gatwick airport is connected to the train station, so you can leave the airport and go directly to the station to catch a train

you can get trains directly to brighton from gatwick, which takes no more than an hour for the stopping trains; there is also often a fast train (the gatwick express) between the two

train times can be checked at http://www.thetrainline.com

  8. beats me, but a taxi, straight from your door,to the airports, best way to go, but itl be pretty expensive

  9. i'd say manchester airport but i dunno where you coming from so hope this helps
