...that's it for MD, VA, WV, PA, and NC.  There are of course other ski areas in these states that are "shorter".  Nearest ones to DC with 2000' or more vertical are in NY and NH.

Of the places listed, I've only ever been to Snowshoe.  My wife, a beginner, loved it.  I'm kind of on the line between blue and black, and thought it was pretty good, but only a handful of challenging runs.
