  2. Bright Orange its mostly on Mayday/Air Crash Investigations

And Makes it easier to spot so people like the NTSB can analsys it for infomation

  3. They are usually bright orange. So after the crash they are easier to spot. w

  4. the box itself is black, but the container which holds it,is phosphoric/bright orange.to ,easily, be seen/found

is called the black box because is recovered after an aircrash

  5. First, let's get the names right. a "black box" in aviation refers to every single box used in the avionics suite.

The "black box" that the newspapers spout off about is actually two boxes. The flight data recorder and the cockpit voice recorder. These are the two units that are sought out as they provide a record aurally and electronically of the last 30 minutes of the flight. They are on a continuous-loop, that is why they only record the last 30 minutes.

As for the color, they are generally black with bright orange diagonal striping. Some are completely orange, as there are different model units for each airplane type.

They are colored orange so that they are easier to see among the crash debris, and you can discern them from the other black boxes installed in the aircraft.

  6. Generally they are a bright orange colour, not black.

The reason is so that they stand out in the wreckage of a crashed plane so that they can be easily found.

  7. They are painted to look like a nuclear trigger device (detonator)

and yes painted bright orange for easy locating.......But remember there are two in a commercial airliner. CVR (cockpit voice recorder) and a Data Recorder.........
