Both of my sons have severe reactions to both Elastoplast and foam (the type used for swimming floats and woggles) - anyone know what the common ingredient in both of these is? Thanks in anticipation :)

  1. well I know elastoplast has adhesive latex and polyester or cotton, depending on the manufacterer.

the floats may also contain latex or a petro-chemical compound that mimics latex.

  2. I'm not sure about those items specifically but since you mentioned swimming floats- are they covered with a fabric?  It took me till my mid 20's to figure out I was allergic to acrylic fabrics- which lot's of clothing is made out of now.  Just from the names of those too items it sounds like they would have some type of plastic polymer in common and since they are made with chemicals that could cause an allergic reaction to  sensitive skin.
