Specifically, what is the commute like from Bloomingdale, West Milford, Wanaque, etc. to Midtown Manhattan? Is it best to do train or bus and how approximately what is the travel time?

  1. I commute from North Jersey to the Upper East side of Manhattan to work every day.  It's gets pretty rough and tiring after a while.  I take NJ transit train to Secaucus and transfer to another train to go into Penn Station, NY.  Then I take a subway to go uptown and a bus to go across town.  It takes about an hour and 45 minutes each way, more or less.  A lot of times more because there are lots of delays but is worth it if you get a really good job with great benefits in the city.
