1. First of all, the term of friendship have to make commitments to each other from avoiding one of them to get hurt badly. Seeing through actions from the other person to show friendship is dangerous because it might be just that you, yourself is thinking too much. He/she might just treat you as a simple friend.

2.Lots of people said that the deepness of friendship should be estimate through time. No, its wrong. They misconception about it. How intimate in between a person with another person on a friendship is, how much you understand that person and not how long you know him/her. For an example, there's these conversation going on between A, B, and C.

A said: This is B. B is my best friend. I have known her for 10 years.

C said: What a long term of relationship you both have!

B said: Yes, we have known each other for a long time!

(This is what make other people to have mislead their perspective way of thinking.)

3. If you really love your friend, you shouldn't involve in their other personal relationship with other people even if it is your enemy, your ex-boyfriend or any other people that they have hurt you before but the only thing that you could do is that warn them about their bad attitude, etc or you know that they are using your best friend and not warn them just becase they had hurt you before, that doesn't mean they will treat other people badly. Another case is that, if you know your best friend is hanging out with people that was in your previous relationship and your best friend tells you about it, that's means your friend cares about you. If he/she didn't tell you about it, he/she is afraid that you might dump him/her. However, it is best that one person is honest to another person. Let's say that your best friend know that she is hanging out with people that had hurt you before and one day that person(he/she knws that both of you are best friend) is still harming you and you tell your best friend about it but your best friend takes no action about it. If that is the case, this is different, you should leave your best friend for not standing up for you. However, if your best friend advise he/she not to do this anymore, that means you and that person have equal positon in your best friend's heart and your best friend doesn't want to lost any of you.(I guess...this is just what I taught of it.)

4.I assume that you are a teenager because normally a teen would ask this kind the question.(anyway, no offense.) Now, have you ever been through this kind of situation? Once again, let me give you an example with two people in a conversation. This is between D and E.

E said: Hey, its your turn for you to come over to my house and have

           sleep over!

D said: No, I can't. Your house is too far away from mine.

(Doesn't it make any sense to you? Its isn't far for you to come over to that person place but it is far for that person to come over to your place. Isn't it the same distance?!)

One day, if you are unlucky to see this kind the person or you already have, dump them, they are not worth your time regardless of so much happy memories that you have been with that person. They don't even treat you as a simple friend

*I know that point number 4 is not refering to your question but I just want you to know about it.

Likewise, love each other unconditionally is the best.

If you are asking what is the meaning of friendship which I think you are. You should look up into the dictionary, etc but just in case let me tell you about it. "Friendship" come from the basic word of "friend" which means a person whom you know well and whom you like a lot, but who is usually not a member of your family. This is the meaning where I get from the Cambridge International Dictionary of English.
