The object is to get the balls (except the cue) into the holes (pockets).

pool is a single name for a number of games played on a pocket billiard table.  the concept for each game is different.

In 8 ball, the concept is to pot (sink) all the balls in your group (solids or stripes) and then the 8.

In 9 ball, the concept of the game is to be the one to sink the 9.  however, in 9 ball, you must hit the lowest ball on the table first.  so a 1-9 combination dropping the 9 wins the game just as running the table does.

in straight pool, (14.1 continuous) you play to a predetermined score, 75, 100, etc.  each ball sunk is 1 point.  all shots are called, ball and pocket, any ball is fair game.

There are other games to, Chicago, Pill Pool, 7 ball, etc.  if you want more info, please ask about a specific game.  I'd be happy to give you more tips within that game as to detailed rules, strategy, etc

hit ball with stick. ball hit by stick hit another ball.  that ball go into a hole.  sumtimes that ball hit another ball that cause ball "3"  to go into a hole instead/ also.
