What is the connection between the water wheel (disk) and erosion?

When water moves over sediment or soil it will erode it because the water will carry soil particles away.  Erosion occurs through water or wind when the force carrys particles away and weakens the parent material...

The more energy (i.e the faster the wind or water is moving) the more it will erode the parent material
