The controversy was expected to be a white actor playing black person. But, people didn't seem too bad with that and it's not as much of a big deal.

The problem now is that they say "r****d" in it...what was it...17 times, maybe? And the Simple Jack stuff with r****d...and such.

The controversy is over the fact that throughout the movie, the word "r****d" is used to describe mentally handicapped people. Also, Robert Downy Jr. portrays a black man, by coloring his skin to fit the part.
