  1. Hey How's it going?  I'm actually US citizen living in Venezuela right now.  I've been here for abt 9 months and have the currency exchange figured out pretty well.  Now i could tell u that the exchange rate is "1 US dollar = 2,145.92275 Venezuelan Bolivares",but that way to complicated to really understand and it's not very useful if u're actually somewhere trying to purchase goods.  So here's how it really works:

Every US dollar is abt 2,000 Bolivares.  Think abt it like this... if u pay $5 (USA) for something it's basically 10,000Bs (VEN).  If u pay $10 (USA) for something it's 20,000Bs(VEN).  If u pay $50 (USA) for something it's 100,000Bs(VEN).  Get the pattern... basically u double the number and add 3 zero's to the end.  Now to get a little more specific they don't use the "$" here they usually put "Bs" after the number like i did.  And they don't use commas and periods the way we do in the states...for example: $5,234.83 (USA) would look like this 5.234,83Bs and $2,547,765.23 (USA) would look like this 2.547.765,23Bs   As u can see they use the commas and periods the exact opposite way than we do in the states... when it comes to numbers!!  And last but not least they use the term "Mil" when talking... which means "thousand"!  So 5,000Bs would be "Cinco Mil" or "Five Thousand" and sometimes they write it like "5mil"!  All of this may sound confusing ,but u have to understand that this is a completely different country, culture, and way of doing things.  it actually took me a while to get used to such a big change, but when it comes to money...i think we all become quick learners, LOL!!  if u have any other questions abt Venezuelan life feel free to email me!!

PS  They are actually abt to change the whole currency system here.  Next January they'll be on a system that is a lot closer to what we use in the states.  The US dollar will still be abt double the value of the Bolivar but, instead of being called 5,000Bs it will be known as 5Bs... which is way less confusing!!

PPS Oh yeah and to "officially" answer ur 2nd question..... 27,000Bs would be abt $13.50!!

  2. A dollar is equal to 2150 Bolivares. So 27000BS = $12.56

On the black market a dollar is about 4000 Bolivares.

  3. 1 U.S. dollar = 2 145.92275 Venezuelan bolivars...didn't notice the 27000...it would be $12.58

  4. $ 12.5739
