Seen on buildings that obviously at some time had deliveries, does anyone know the correct architectural name for the doors found high up on the face of a older building .

  1. In southern Ontario, they were fairly common in older farmhouses, where it looked like someone planned to put a porch on but never got around to it. They were called suicide doors, but that term was for houses and not commercial buildings.

  2. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Door#Types_...

Might help, I looked around on Yahoo, but couldn't find anything.  Sorry.

  3. There is no official name that I know of. These doors were not always used for deliveries. Some served as fire escapes at the mid landing point of an interior staircase. Good question.

  4. In doctors offices or clinics, they were for the removal of the dead in caskets!  Dead doors?
