  1. Two ions exist in the water(considering it is pure).

    At Anode, oxygen is released.

    4OH-   -----> 2H20   +  O2(gaseous)   +   4e-

    At Cathode, hydrogen is released.

    2H+   + 2e-  ------> H2


  2. In electrolysis, the oxidized species (O2) would be collected at one anode and the reduced species (H2) at the other.
