I just bought a '94 extended cab s10 with a Standard tranny and a V6 under the hood,,,But my problem isn't so much the engine-that runs fine-as it is with the tranny, see I have never drove a stickshift before so I don't know about this. But when me and my grandfather went over to bring it home from the previous owner's house,my grandfather went to shift it into 1st gear and instead of shifting it to the left and up like i had saw on the k**b he shifted it straight back and The tranny started to grind and whine like it wasn't catching a gear or something, and then he said it wouldnt shift into any gear execpt reverse..hmmm,but what I dont get is when i was there before the previous owner shifted it into 1st and the truck jerked ahead almost hitting his garage,so it must of been just the fact that my grandfather doesnt know how to shift, but i dont know for sure...Can someone help me out on this one??

  1. over left and up is first straight down second up middle third down middle fourt right up 5th down reverse

  2. Top of the shifter ,left to right, 1- 3 - 5

    Bottom of the shifter ,left to right 2- 4 - R ,

By the way you may need to check your clutch fluid , it may be out and that's why you can't shift it out of any gear, I'm sure that your truck has a salve cylinder on it that works the clutch and if it gets out of fluid it wont work , so besure to check your fluid. Just raise your hood and on the drivers side next to the firewall you will see a round plastic bottle and that's where you put the clutch fluid in at.
