What is the correct term, "Maritime Industry" or "Marine Industry"?

Referring to boat building companies, ship building companies, and suppliers to this industry.

Maritime: In broadest terms, it includes all enterprises engaged in the business of designing, constructing, manufacturing, acquiring, operating, supplying, repairing and/or maintaining vessels, or component parts thereof: of managing and/or operating shipping lines, stevedoring arrastre and customs brokerage services, shipyards, dry docks, marine railways, marine repair shops, shipping and freight forwarding services and similar enterprises.

    Marine: usually applies to the recreational boat building/service industry

  4. Just a guess...

    I think that marine industry is relevant to the building aspects.

    Maritime (to me) suggests things relevant to actual operations at sea.

    In all seriousness, and unless you want to be obsessive, the terms can be used interchangeably. Have heard both refer to the same subjects in the same context.
