What is the correct term to use when placing an ad for a used car?

I want to sell my piece of sh** SUNFIRE. There's a lot of problems with it such as rusting, AC/Heater doesn't work for 3 of the 4 settings (it only blows really really hot air or really really cold air), and you can't read the time cause that light burnt out.

I don't want to write mint condition. What should I write? And I was looking at other similar sunfires with none of those problems, so how much should I deduct for these problems?

Thanks

  1.   you should put this down,      Sunfire for sale, as is depending on the year, I would not let it go for less than 500.00

  2. Standard practice is to use the Kelly Blue Book to determine worth or your car.

They have a quality list with a bit about what each means, your car sounds like it is in "Fair" condition but you would have to inform the the buyer in regards to the flaws you know of.

    From their website:

"Fair" condition means that the vehicle probably has some mechanical or cosmetic defects, but is still in safe running condition. The paint, body and/or interior need work to be performed by a professional in order to be sold. The tires need to be replaced. There may be some repairable rust damage. The value of cars in this category may vary widely. A clean title history is assumed. Even after significant reconditioning this vehicle may not qualify for the Blue Book Suggested Retail value.

Also, you can use the blue book to determine the average worth of the vehicle in your area of the country. Both what you could get for trade in as well as what you could expect in private party sales (pennyads, auto-trader, etc).

  3. Try, "THIS CAR STINKS! IT CAN NOW BE YOURS CHEAP!" What do you think?

  4. Here You go!

For Sale - 2001 Pontiac Sunfire 73,000 Miles.

The car is in fair condition as seen the photo attached. There are minor issues with the Dash controls. The Air conditioning does work great!

It has 73K Miles. Looking for $_ _ _ _  Or Best Offer

Fill in the Blanks. How much you should charge ? Well that depends on how much you paid for it. Have you had any money put in ? Like New battery or Tire ? If so mention it. That's also your justification for price. Also how long you had the car ? Deduct roughly $1000 for each year you had the car upto a max of $2000.

You could put a For Sale sign in the Rear Window.

    Good Luck
