What is the cost for license and testing to be an insurance agent?

Switching careers from secretarial/customer service to insurance sales. I have to pay to the test and lisence, and I can not find a web site that tells me what the cost is.

  1. Just Google the department of insurance in the state where you live.  All the details will be there.


  2. Like your previous answer said, the cost varies but it CAN get a little expensive with the cost of the study materials and the actual testing. One alternative you may consider is becoming a benefits specialist instead of an insurance agent. The cost is $95 to start and the possibilities are endless.   3. It depends on what state you are in, which and how many tests you have to take, and if you need classroom time before testing.  It can be anywhere from $50 to $200, per test, plus study materials and potentially classes you'll have to take.
