you can't buy one, unless you know someone who was in the Olympics who is willing to sell one to you, which most people probably aren't. but i'd imagine it would be at least a few thousand dollars, maybe one hundred thousand.

if you know a metal crafter you could get them to make you a fake one though.

For Michael Phelps, it's $125,000 each. (Speedo will pay him $1 million for winning 8 golds)

But for actual medal 'metal' costs, prices are perhaps:

~$300 for gold

~$200 for silver

<$150 for bronze

I'm not sure but I know my D.A.R.E Gold Medal was worth $0.89 USD.  So i'm assuming theirs are about $1.09 USD.  Seeing how it's a wee bit bigger event!

Phelps gets 25,000 per medal  just for winning.  Whatever Nike pays him is on top of that.  Not a bad haul, eh?
