  1. I presume that you want a single scull.  It all depends on exactly what you want.  If you're after a training scull, then get a more solid, more stable boat.  If you're going to be racing in it, then you'll want a fine racing shell.  Janousek, Empacher, Burgashell and Stampfli are good bets for a decent racing shell.  A Janousek single will cost about $6000-7000 new, a Burgashell $3000-5000, and a Stampfli $7000-8000.  I couldn't find the price for an Empacher.  These manufacturers will ship all over the world.  You could, of course, get these boats much cheaper second-hand, if that doesn't worry you.  These are top-class boats, and the price is high as a result.  As I said before, it's all about what you're looking for.  If you're after a cheap, stable and fun boat, try the Edon training scull or similar; it's got removable stabilisor floats on the riggers, and it's great for just having fun on the river.

  2. I would say $3000 to $4000.
