I'm going to be moving to around the Seattle area from Florida and I'm wanting to know what the average cost you spend a month on you horse (just one) with board, feed, hay etc. I would like to know all the costs that I will be getting into up there. Thank you so much for any advice.

  1. in general, its not cheap. but it varys from place to place. like everything, the nicer places (with covered arenas, nice stalls, ect.) are more expensive than less prestigous ones. on avereage it will probably be somewhere around 400 to 600 a month

i would recomend looking up equestrain centers in WA on google and you will be able to find rates on there. my friend boards her horse at a place in Kirkland and it is 600 a month.

  2. Hay is included in board coats (at least, thats what I always thought). It also depends on what kind of board your looking for- pasture? paddock? tie stall? box stall? etc. Right now it would be $200 a month for my horse at my barn because she is kept in pasture and is used in lessons.

  3. Between 200- 400. Depends on the facility

  4. I live in Lacey, which is about 40 minutes South of Seattle. Boarding here is about $350 (average) for full care. Most places here do not do self care (which SUCKS) but I've found a few for around $175 for Self. The best thing to do is check Craigslist. I can also give ya some names of places depending how far up you're going.

  5. Hi there. I live in Seattle and the board here is between $400 and $700 (but keep in mind that there is NO horse stables IN Seattle, they are all in Bellevue and Redmond, which is about 20 minutes east). I board my horse in Orting, which is an hour south. I make it down there about 3-4 times a week. The board there is $375 for full care, turnout, and hay/grain, but they have pasture board for $200. If you want cheaper board, you will have to drive out of Seattle for it. Welcome to the neighborhood!
