Hi! I m working as Asst. Accountant in dubai and looking forward to do Graduate Diploma from a university in Alberta or Toranto . I haven't decided yet, so can anybody guide me which state will be suitable and less expensive. How much will be the Rent, Food and other Misc. Expense per year beside the tuition fee?

  1. Alberta will be cheaper than Toronto. If you can economize--live in small quarters and eat cheaply, you can probably get by on $1200 Canadian per month. If you want your own apartment and to eat well, $2500.

  2. Oh, I am not sure that Alberta will be cheaper than Toronto.  Alberta is currently experiencing a major boom in their economy due to oil prices.

Friends have moved from toronto to Edmonton and are sleeping in their van because rents on a bachelor (1 room) are over $1500/month -- if you can find one.

Best thing for you to do is to contact the university where you plan to go and ask for the international student office or advisor.  They are accustomed to assisting students from overseas and can tell you local prices and costs of living in a more realistic fashion than we can.
