I live in north Texas, and I'm wondering how much the average cost is on a 1/2 acre lot. Thank you.

  1. Generally speaking for a contractor installation you are looking at between 150 - 250 per irrigation head to be installed.

For a half acre, you will probably be in the 3000  to 5000 range, depends if you have grassy areas only, or landscape areas also to irrigate. Plus you might need a backflow preventer (If required by code)

  2. I live in SE new Mexico and we have a livestock store that sells all types of farm & garden type stuff.  At this store, you take a drawing of your yard and they plot out where all the sprinkler heads go, how many valves you need, and then give you a shopping list.  Then they walk around the store with you and help you gather everything.  This was for a manual sprinkler system that you turn on and off yourself--and all the items added up to about $75.00.  Then my dad and husband rented a trencher, trenched it and laid all pipe according to the plan.  Maybe, since you live in this same general are, you have a store like that.  Check around  I was shocked at how helpful and inexpensive it was if you can do a little of the work yourself.

  3. Neighbors of mine had an irrigation system installed on a lot similar in size to yours and it was $6500 dollars, but that covered the flower beds as well.

  4. I live in the midwest and we have .8 acres.  The company came out and put the line down and did all the "technical" things and my husband dug up the holes and put the heads in himself.  This ran us $3,200.  If we were to have all of it done by them, it would have run us $5,400 and that was in 2003.  Putting the heads in takes a lot of digging of holes and bending over but it won't hurt your pocketbook as much.

  5. i own a sprinkler company in Florida, and i thought Florida was the highest cost area in the nation. but by reading some of the answers,i think i should relocate and get rich. i charge by the zone ,which yields 6 rotary heads or 12 spray heads@$450.00 ,which includes everything ,timer ,valves etc. ..my cost for the materials of a 4 zone system is about $400.00 ,and takes 3 men one day to do the job. labor=$375.00 .my total cost=$775.00  ..... your total cost=$1800.00  ...my profit=$1025.00 - gas  ,lunch etc.

  6. Here is what I paid in Alabama...lot size is about 1/3 acre.

$1500 for well and pump. (Our ground water is v-e-r-y shallow)

    plus

$1200 for basic Rainbird pop-up sprinklers and timer/brain by a local small biz landscape fellow.

Hope this helps you a bit.

  7. Depends a lot on whether you hire a true professional or a fly by night. There really is not "average" or "typical" price because conditions change so much from one yard to the next. But you're probably looking at 8 to 10 grand.
