What is the criteria/conditions that you consider for a country to be developed or undeveloped? ?

  1. Usual answers would be:

    Developed:

    Per Capita income (how much national income per person)

    Annual GDP (how much production gets done in the state; you can tell by manufacturing or factories)

    Infant mortality rate (gives you gauge on health conditions)

    Cleanliness

    Political representation

    Variety of television shows

    Interesting conversation from local populace.


  2. development is represented as welbeing and happiness of the society. the guage of the welbeing differs quit alot in different societys. eg in afghanistan if a person doesnt have a gun for him his welbeing may be badly affected but we may count that as a good point.

    UN has catagorized countries according to HDI human development index but again development is very reletive and no absolute measure of development may b formulated.

    more political and religious freedom

    freedom of expression

    state provided basic needs like food shelter and medicine

    individual and institutional respect

    are some of the measures i think must be looked at when deciding about the development of a country
