  1. You can check out the ads at puppylounge.com, maybe that will give you an idea.

  2. it depends on the breeds standards. AKC has breed standards for all specific breeds. You would deff need to tell his age, weight, height, pedigree, any DNA test's you may have preformed to insure he is in fact pure bred. If he is a large  or XL breed dog I would list any Hip test's and heart tests he may have had to include his sire and dame  as well if possible.

just as important is to list his tempermate. Is he good with children, other dogs and so forth.

  3. Advertising him where? In your local paper, you won't get replies from responsible or knowledgeable breeders, you'll only get those who will want to use him because he's near. They won't care if he's hip scored & elbow scored & eye tested - they probably won't know what it means.

To be honest, a good stud dog doesn't need to be advertised. Good breeders will find him and used him and his excellent puppies will be his advertisement.

With so many excellent, champion, proven, dogs around, why would a reputable breeder want to use your dog?

  4. in the Uk it would be that he is firstly tested for the genetic conditions  that this breed have and low hip scores etc , and then he has a litter of pups to someone to test him/ give him some experience, so he is then able to be refer to as a proven stud in ads, no one wants to bring their B*itch along to an inexperienced male who can get too excited and  tire himself and b*tch out. hope this helps. Maybe ring the Kennel Club for further advice.

  5. Giving hip and eye scores would only go to prove what a great stud dog and what a good owner you are.

Its not essential and you would probably find that some people would use your stud dog without this information but the type of people who would breed from your stud with nothing more than papers are the same type of people who should not really be breeding.

Some people will try to take shortcuts but i think its like everything in life, if its worth doing its worth doing right and the results will be well worth it.

You would be well within your rights to ask for a pick of the litter instead of a stud fee and imagine how rewarding it would be to get a pup from a litter of proven high level pedigree pups.
