Question:

What is the current USA sales tax?

I want to know what the US sales tax is. Last I heard it was 8.5 dollars, if anyone knows I'd appreciate you letting me know what it is. Thanks!

  1. In the state of Pennsylvania the sales tax now is 6% they are talking about raising it,in New York I think it is 9% so it's different in each state. In New Jersey there is no sales tax on clothes.

  3. There is no national sales tax.  Each state has it's own.  One or two do not have a sales tax.  Additionally, some counties have an additional tax and some cities also impose a sales tax.

  4. There isn't a Federal Sales Tax.

    It's done on a State and sometimes City level.

  5. Sales taxes are imposed by the states.  The rates vary from state to state and sometimes within the state depending on which city the sale is being made.

    The federal government, does not impose a sales tax on any item that is sold.  However, I do believe that the federal government does impose an excise tax on automotive tires and quite possibly tobacco products/
