Let's assume I'm willing to drive 10 miles to a store to buy a tank and that I already have an empty one to give back to them. How much would this tank cost, and how much would it hold? (Volume and psi would be acceptable, but weight would be the best bet.) Thanks!

  1. There is no answer to your question because hydrogen is not yet made using the methods and quantities cars would require.  Converting methane is insufficient because there isn't enough methane (and it's still a fossil fuel).  They'll need to electrolyze hydrogen from water.

You realize you'll use 2 tanks of hydrogen just driving to the store to pick up the 1 tank...  hydrogen tanks don't hold much at all.

Far more likely you'll generate it on-site using electricity, separating water into oxygen and hydrogen.  The oxygen you'll let go (unless you're a welder), and the hydrogen you'll pump into storage tanks for your car.

Then your car (if it hopes to have any range at all) will use efficient fuel cells to merge the hydrogen with oxygen from air to make electricity, which powers an electric drive.  It's a very convoluted way to make an electric car.  Why bother? Because some people think they can refill a hydrogen tank faster than they can recharge an EV battery.  I think they're wrong.

  2. See the source.

  3. I have worked with liquid hydrogen and it will leak through most hoses . so it is very explosive ,and if u are lucky and master that problem try this. 10 Gallons of liquid hydrogen could blow away a hold block.
