Sorry. It thought that only people who had heard of 'Heavy Harry' would try to answer. Someone asked my husband this question today, and I thought I might be able to get an answer from someone on Yahoo7 answers. It could have been steam, but I am not sure. It was in Australia, possibly Victorian Railways. Apparently it only ran on the main line between Melbourne and Adelaide because it was too heavy to use other lines because it would damage the tracks. It is probably in a museum somewhere, but I really don't know much about it.

  1. Unfortunately, historic locos don't have odometers (or speedometers in many cases). Mileage was calculated by reference to the journeys made by the loco. For example, it might travel for a week on one return trip a day between town a and town b, a distance of 500 round trip which gives a mileage of 3,500. That would be noted by the shedmaster on the loco's sheet.

  2. Cannot help you there.  But, just as a point of interest, " the

royal scott" did 2.5 million miles in revenue earning service,

and is preserved at Bressingham, Norfolk.  This was an L.M.S

steam locomotive.  It is sunny and warm here in Devonshire

today, not bad for winter!  Bye for now.

  3. Please be more specific. Don't forget you have a worldwide audience.

Do you mean the Victorian Railways (Australia) steam loco?
