Its all to confusing! I want to know because I hate all of the terms that people call me and since our society requires for all humans to be called something and to be some how different races I thought that I would ask this question. I have the following list of names That I have been called as well as why I hate them Can you help me determine the most appropriate term? Also, let me know what country you are from.

- Black: I personally hate the term black... I'm actually a nice Chocolate brown color ;-).

- African American: I am not really African American (I was born and raised in the Carribean).

- Afro-Carribean/African-Carribean: I don't like the term Afro-Caribbean as most of my life I lived in the US. I am also 4th generation Carribean.

- Person of Color: I hate being called a person of color as I am grouped with all other people of color verses Caucasians (I guess). As though people of color are different from Caucasians.

Thanks in advance for your respectful comments.

  2. What is wrong with being called black? If you are black them you are?

    WTF Chocolate brown?!

I am not Black as in the dark colour black i am a lighter "chocolate brown"

because i am mixed race, but ill be damned if anyone calls me chocolate! you are black, get over it.

PS i am half bouganvillian and half english, no african and no american in me just black lol.

  3. People will continue to call us black people and African-American in the USA whether we like it or not. Even though...we are American. All human beings started in Africa, so I guess we are all African. My opinion, though.

  4. I would prefer Black American over African American. I have never in my life been to Africa and not all black Americans' ancestors come from Africa.

  5. personally i'm still gonna call ya black, hey i'm a nice cream colour with what could be brown sprinkles but ya don't see me wanting to be called a donut, it's a decription and a general one at that, it's good that you don't like how the word "black" has been used but i'd worry more about the user than the word itself

  6. If you're black and an American, you're an AMERICAN.

Course, do you know what the 'C' in NAACP stands for?

  7. personally, i would just like for people to call me by my name.

  8. It doesn't matter what you call them, they will consider it racist.

  9. I am from America .... you are silly, you are making things more complicated than they have to be

Thank you authentic black american ICAM

  10. In the U.S. the racial classification is African American..If your that bent out of shape just call yourself Trinidadian-American..duh

Most blacks in this country are Americans of southern heritage. I hope you arent suggesting we redefine 400 years of history to adapt to you..

  11. Hunny then just call yourself CaMerican??....I dk just call yourself whatever you want...just dont confuse yourself....Im multiracial, so when people ask me what I am I tell them, "Everything."

  12. how about negroids or spear chucker? porch monky is a good one

    or mud people

    how about chocolate ankle biters?

    oohh oohh i got one

    "spilled coffee"

  13. Contact Al (The Mouth) Sharpton for his latest version. Be prepared to listen for thirty minutes.

What does it matter if you live in America. Oh by the way-I'm German-American.

By the way, what "Loose Wheel" said is correct. I have a long time black friend (which he prefers), he says he doesn't care as long as I call him for a beer.

  14. sweety, black people come from different parts of the globe....

call me Nigerian-Canadian, Nigerian, African, west African.... I really don't care.

But I refer to black Americans as African americans.

    peace.

  15. I thought it was black person?

  16. Politically correct? African American. Preferred term--black. From what I can tell on this site. But now do you understand how difficult this is for whites? If you don't even know what you want to be called then how should we know? And we are considered racist for asking or trying to make the best guess that we can.

I knew that somebody would start with that call me by my name c**p. But what would you call me if you didn't know my name? WHITE GIRL.
