What is the current state of Torrent Laws

For example, why are programs like limewire and bearshare (or napster in the past) always under legal attack, when bigger programs like bit torrent which allow people to do essentially the same thing in a larger scale rarely under attack in America (Somewhere in Europe a piratebay.com server was raided)

  1. It is easier to catch individuals on LimeWire etc. and the systems are more centralized, making them easier targets.  Anybody can set up a torrent search site or tracker for not very much money.

    There has been attacks on bittorrent in the US.  Several sites do not allow their trackers to connect to US users and several sites shut down because of legal pressure in the US.  However, more new sites sprung up and the resulting publicity probably got more people involved in bittorrent.
