What is the current status of mango and ber in area and production in world and india?

  1. The number varies greatly, though India is the largest producer. "Ber" is grown in isolated parts of the country. Ber is not an important crop due to its little demand.

    Mango is grown almost all over India. The best region is the ferlile North India (Uttar Pradesh, punjab and Haryana.)

    Also, Maharashtra is famous for the "Alophonso" Mango. The "mango showers (rain) help mangoes to ripen faster in the south, especially in the states of Karnataka and Kerala.

  2. India ranks first in world production of mango, with a share of about 42 per cent. India produced 98 lakh tonnes of mangoes from an area of about 14 lakh ha.  Productivity of Ber tree crops,  are becoming increasingly popular in dry-land areas, but I could find no figures on amount grown.
