What is the current story on Jimmie Johnson and Casey Mears?

Jimmie isn't going anywhere. Casey Mears is going to Richard Childress Racing. Mark Martin will take over Mears' car. So who's taking over Mark's car? Aric Amirola.

Edit: I heard somewhere that Johnson could sign a "lifetime" contract with Hendrick, just like what Gordon has now.

Well, I do know that Johnson and Mears are like best friends and when

Hendrick anounced that Mears was being replaced by Mark Martin

next year, there was an article on the racing pages saying how bummed out Johnson was because of his friendship with Mears.

I have read recently that Mears will go to RCR next year because they

are expanding to a 4th car. Johnson is not leaving Hendrick.

I think Jimmie Johnson driving the Kobalt Tools 48 chevy impala this weekend and I think casey mears is going to drive the #07 rcr car next year and clint bowyer will drive the number #33 rcr car next year that's what I heard on nascar now last sunday.

I will tell you this much, Jimmie and Casey are best friends.  I'm sure that the news of Casey being let go did not sound good to the back to back champ but he can't control his teammates.  I know they will be glad to have Mark Martin at HMS but they probably won't hang out with him much away from the track.  Jimmie will probably not ever leave and Casey is going to RCR, from what has been rumored.

there are just some trolls saying that jimmie johnson is leaving the 48 but he's not. Still no update on Mears but they say the lead candidates are RCR or Penske. I think Casey will go to the 07 and Clint Bowyer will go to the new 33 car.

i don't know. i saw something in someone else's YA about Jimmie leaving Hendrick and possibly joining up with Stewart. unknown on how true this is. i also know Casey Mears will be leaving Hendrick. i don't know where he's going, but Mark Martin will take Mears's #5 car.

I haven't heard anything about Jimmie Johnson at all. He and Mears were good friends though. But Mears is definitely just searching for jobs right now. It's been rumored that he was offered to drive the RCR 4th car next year. He is also being courted by Petty Enterprises, however, nothing is official. Mears says that "He has options." However, there is also a opening at Penske Racing after Newman signs with Stewart-Haas and don't forget that Mears' uncle, Rick, was a Indy driver....... Again, nothing official on either, yet.
