I have been taking a headache medicine that has aspirin in it. I have a headache everyday and so I take the medicine everyday. What is the danger of taking medicine with aspirin in it everyday? I know aspirin thins the blood so is that a danger or what? What else can happen? besides me killing my liver.

Thank You.

I know I need to go to a doctor but I don't know how much it would be and I don't have health insurance.

  1. If you take the prescribed amount you are fine.

    Headache everyday is not good.

Find a way to see adoctor.

  2. Aspirin does no significant damage to the liver. In astronomical doses, we're talking hundreds of times what's recommended daily, it can damage kidneys.

The main danger of aspirin is GI bleeding. Basically aspirin inhibits an enzyme called COX-1 which is responsible for various immune regulating responses. While this is useful when dealing with things such as heart attacks and strokes, it's less useful because it depletes the mucus coating around the stomach, and can lead to the formation of a bleeding ulcer.

  3. In teens and young adults there is risk of Reye's syndrome (which causes brain damage) when taking aspirin for a fever.

Aspirin on a daily basis can thin your blood--should be stopped before any surgery.

Headache every day is NOT normal--SEE A DOCTOR.
