  1. there is an illumination gradient from sunset to about 1 or 1 1/2 hrs after sunset (depending on season), after that it don't get darker.

about an hr or hr and a half before sunrise, it starts to get brighter.

factor in the DANG Moon. (i LOVE our Moon, except when talking about or actually observing the night sky... dang bright light bulb!  A pox on your cratered face!)

  2. 2-3 am

  3. Well it would be about 1am - 3am..after that it starts to become light(sun rise)

  4. Of your choices, I'd say...

1am if cloudy or new/crescent moon, possibly later (after moon-set) if a full moon.

  5. ah.. prob..ly 1 or 2 a.m. not before 11 p.m. or after 4 a.m.

  6. It would be at the time when the sun is at its farthest point below the horizon. With the clocks on Summer Time, this is at about 1 a.m.

  7. In rural america, when the sun is on the other side of the earth (half way between sunset and sunrise)

In urban america when the lights are at a minimum - when the lights that are on in the evening are shut off or reduced in parks, parking lots or buildings.

  8. It's the time you get far away from city lights. . .and without the moon. . .
