Question:

What is the date of the next full moon ?

I am in Alaska in case that matters.

I have a very expensive telescope that I am dying to try out.

  1. Minor correction to the previous answer,  a character was missed out which means it will not work as a direct link.

    Also a couple of other sites which are useful for this sort of info.

    And if you can get good photos of your observation you may wish to submit them to the last mentioned site below.

  2. Next full Moon will be (for you in Alaska) on July 17th, technically at 11:59 PM your time.  But it will appear nearly full a couple days either side of that time.

    If I may suggest, look at the Moon these evenings, as the Moon  is passing first quarter stage.  Specifically, look at the craters near the terminator (the border between the lit and unlit part of the Moon). It's interesting to see the shadows coming off the crater edges.
