If a team picks up a player off waivers or makes a trade, what date do they have to be on the roster to be eligible for the playoffs?

  2. The last date that a player has to be on the roster is August 31st. Now I don't know if that is to include the 40 man roster or is limited to just the 25 man roster.

  3. Have to be on the roster by August 31st.

  4. By midnight on August 31st (not Sept 1 like the other guy wrote). So literally, if you're traded at 12:02 Sept 1 morning, you can't play in the post season.

    Ask Dave Henderson about that one.
