  1. Detroit has an incredible political machine running all aspects of government.

But they bit off a bit more than they could chew on this one.

    Corrupt and crooked.

  2. Detroit has had a string of political nightmares recently culminating in Kwame Kilpatrick's alledged assault of a sheriff's deputy.  Most recently he is being looked at for violating the terms of his bond, again, and could be looking at more jail time.  His lack of judgment and arrogance, along with that of his co-conspirator, Christine Beatty, has cost Detroit millions in secret settlements, attorney fees, and has further damaged the city's ailing reputation.

Let's not overlook the fact that Monica Conyers is on the city council. In case you forgot, she's the council member who called the council president, Ken Cockrel, "Shrek."  That little video jewel was played over and over on national television.  Detroit needs a political makeover but quick!

  3. First, he was elected because he was a fresh face with a strong political family backing him.  This is the first term.  He was elected to a second turn because he did a good job convincing the business community to support his re-election campaign.

  4. most just want out of the state!

  5. He got elected the fist time because he was a fresh-face and seemed like he really had Detroit's best interest at heart. The second time he was elected, Detroit should have known better, but the city did seem to get a little bit better in his first term in office. It was a bit cleaner, Detroit hosted the Superbowl, there were tons of projects and incentives to bring business back to Detroit- which probably would have happened to a certain extent with any mayor. Then once everything started coming out about all the stuiff he was doing- the Manoogian Mansion party, affairs, perjury, using his position as mayor for personal gain, people stopped believing him. He still has supporters, but they are fewer in number than even a week ago. Several area business people have called for him to resign- people that have tried to stay outof this whole thing. Everyone I know in the area wants him gone, but he doesn't have the class to say he was wrong and face the consequences. He'sgoing to have to be forced out of office.

  6. Just like New Orleans, the citizens are gripped in fear and have been hypnotized to believe only liberal democrats can save them.  When, for the past 20 or 30 years, liberal democrats have been in control of these h**l holes.

  7. that guy is a joke, no one respects him anymore, he should just say enough is enough, and resign, and pull the rest of his life out of the mud, and start new somewhere else.
